I recently returned from a week in Hawaii and I absolutely loved it – I’m already thinking about when I can go back! It’s a beautiful place and I’ve never felt so relaxed.
Coincidentally, one of the clients we represent has a location in Hawaii – NorthStar Memorial Group. Even though I was on vacation, I couldn’t resist the urge to grab a local newspaper and get to know the media market. Once I came back to work, it got me thinking about the benefits of visiting an unfamiliar media market when you represent clients in the region. My colleagues were equally interested and they had some questions about my trip – check out the video below.
How do you get to know a new media market? Leave a comment below or tweet me @ashleyboarman.

Ashley – you now know why we’ve returned to Kauai every other year for more than 25 years. It is absolutely a magical island and I can’t wait for my next trip there as well. I guess we’ll just have to pretend we’re visiting when we all head to San Francisco’s Tonga Room for mai tais, right? Great blog. Cheers, David
Mahalo for the vlog, Ashley! You’re in love with Hawaii now…no turning back.
Ashley,
Fantastic vlog — can’t wait to travel and learn more about PR!
Thanks for the fun blog video, Ashley! I definitely agree that PR professionals should visit their client’s location – either to meet with the client or just for fun (like in your case). Also, it’s necessary for PR folks to take time off (as challenging as that can sometimes be) and embark on such adventures.
