Based in Silicon Valley, Velodyne LiDAR is the technology that allows autonomous vehicles (AV) to ‘see’ with pinpoint accuracy. Velodyne challenged LCI to communicate the company’s leadership in the burgeoning market while reassuring the consumer public that autonomous vehicles will reduce roadway fatalities. LCI created Magnetic Messages© that worked for media, investors, industry affiliates, clients and partners. Media outreach provided an outlet for explaining complex technology in layman’s terms. Implementation of these programs revolved around themes and events including a Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) partnership, the World AV Safety Summit and CES.
The Sutter Health CPMC Van Ness Campus hospital in San Francisco opened in early 2019. The site promised to be the most seismically safe hospital in the West while also providing sorely needed emergency room, obstetrics and surgical services to the downtown area. LCI positioned this new location as the linchpin in the revitalization of San Francisco’s Van Ness Avenue.
LCI also created mass coverage during National Nurses Week by newsjacking the royal birth. LCI turned to labor and delivery nurse and crochet queen June Shiraki for her support to localize the global story. June crocheted a set of “royal crowns” for newborns who would share the same birthday as the royal baby. On May 6, royal watchers around the world learned that Duchess Meghan had delivered her baby and LCI moved swiftly to invite local media to witness the “crowning” of the Bay Area’s own newborn arrivals.
Whole Foods Market (WFM) came to LCI seeking increased exposure in the Northern Pacific Region (NPR). LCI’s challenge was to position Whole Foods Market as the leading natural and organic retailer in the NPR, drive traffic to stores, deliver educational awareness of food issues, and position WFM as a natural fit within each community. LCI developed a public relations plan that focused on the shopping experience, such as seasonal products, holiday promotions and unique food items. Our strategy was to keep WFM top of mind so that they became a top resource and expert in food trends and issues.
