LCI recently worked with our client, Graton Economic Development Authority, to generate awareness for a unique event between the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department.
Greg Sarris, Graton Rancheria’s tribal chairman, invited Sheriff Essick to address a sold-out crowd of mostly Latinos about immigration. The goal was to convey a positive message that everyone in Sonoma County should understand that they have legal rights and protections, regardless of their immigration status. Since Graton Resort & Casino hosts a monthly dance event for the Latino community, Chairman Sarris and Sheriff Essick leveraged this opportunity to spread the message to the right audience.
KTVU, San Francisco’s FOX affiliate, was among the many media outlets that covered this momentous event. Click here to watch Reporter Debora Villalon’s story, which aired live during the 11 p.m. newscast.
What do you think about the Sheriff’s proactive efforts to reaffirm the rights of immigrants in the community? Please feel free to leave your comments below.
Team LCI/Graton rocks.
Proud to represent Graton at a time when our country’s leadership thinks that villifying groups of people is OK. It is not. Keep up the good work, Graton! Cheers, David
That was a historical night with major Bay Area broadcast all over the place– leading off the newscasts! Congrats to all.
