Following almost 30 years in strategic communications and marketing roles across multiple sectors, Polly Winograd Ikonen is delighted to be back in agency service.
For the majority of her career, Polly has worked in leadership roles at major non-profit cultural institutions – Berkeley Repertory Theatre, San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the New York Philharmonic. In roles of increasing responsibility, Polly has managed teams and projects across the full MarComm spectrum: marketing and sales, media relations, digital communications, social media, branding and positioning, creative services (photography, web, video, graphic design, publications), audience development, community engagement, customer service and box office, hospitality, special events, leadership transitions and major anniversaries.
Prior to entering the world of non-profit arts, Polly began her career in the European luxury goods sector, running both consumer-facing and B2B public relations and marketing campaigns in the United States for Hermes, Lalique Crystal, Puiforcat silver, Finlandia Vodka, and other major brands. She also worked B2B in the healthcare IT sector, serving as vice president of marketing at Motive Medical Intelligence, where she oversaw the build and launch of Motive’s first website, managed a PR firm and led marketing efforts that included conference presence, strategic partnerships and thought leadership. Polly began her career at the award-winning PR firm Nike Communications in New York.
Polly is also a lifelong choral singer and has been a member of the Grammy-nominated Pacific Edge Voices chorus in Berkeley since 2005; she currently serves on PEV’s board and provides marketing counsel to the group. Previously, she was a member of San Francisco Bach Choir and served on its board for several years. As a volunteer, Polly helped to run the “Way to Grow” campaign at Oakland’s Chabot Elementary School, raising over $300,000 for playground redevelopment and enhancement. Polly holds a B.A. in English, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Amherst College.
When she’s not promoting organizations and activities that she loves, Polly enjoys time with her family in the East Bay, hiking, biking, swimming and traveling at every opportunity.
