Seasoned and dedicated public relations specialist, Betsy Levy brings close to 20 years of experience to LCI as Vice President. Throughout her career, Betsy has worked closely with a wide range of healthcare organizations including pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies as well as hospitals. Over the last decade, Betsy focused her consulting practice on providing strategic PR/communications guidance to a mix of nonprofits and causes centered around wellness initiatives serving traumatized and underserved populations.
Additionally, for over a decade, Betsy had the unique privilege of stewarding an awe-inspiring property above the town of Calistoga, which she and her husband transformed into Northern California’s premier group-use retreat center, Mayacamas Ranch. The mission — to support leaders and their groups doing good in the world – where she was fortunate to host and promote a variety of unique and purposeful gatherings.
Earlier in her career, Betsy worked at Genentech where she managed all aspects of communications for the company’s cardiovascular products — supporting the launch of the first effective treatment for acute ischemic stroke — partnering with national nonprofits to educate the public about the need to respond to stroke as a medical emergency. Before going corporate, she supervised a variety of health-related business in Edelman’s San Francisco office, where she launched Target Therapeutic’s Guglielmi Detachable Coil (GDC) for inoperable brain aneurysms, resulting in widespread coverage. Prior to joining Edelman SF, she worked for Kamer Singer & Associates, promoting scientific advances at Summit Medical Center in Oakland and handling a variety of high profile crisis communications projects. Betsy began her healthcare PR career at Edelman in NY promoting Schering-Plough’s drug for hepatitis B and managing the Nat’l Hepatitis Education Program (a 100-city screening campaign) in partnership with the American Liver Foundation and hospitals nationwide.
Betsy is a graduate of the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where she holds a B.A. in Advertising. With a commitment and focus to helping those that are creating positive societal change, Betsy is most passionate about utilizing her vast communications experience to support companies and causes that are bringing healing and well-being into the world.
