Face-lift at SF's most historic plaza has everything feeling like
good old days
With the St. Francis in the background, Union Square was packed
Thursday as it reopened after more than 18 months and $25 million

The chatting crowds were back. Clowns and the famous mime were
back. And for one gloriously sunny afternoon, even that old fun-time
lunchtime magic was back at San Francisco's Union Square.
The historic plaza reopened Thursday, and with all the hoopla of
entertainment, speechifying politicians and celebrities, it seemed
like the 1970s heyday all over again... more
